Mullvad is the most honest VPN on the market: a flat five euros, no account, no discount theatre. It is not built for streaming, and we earn nothing recommending it — which is rather the point.

👍 What we like
- No email or personal details needed — you get a random account number
- One flat price of €5/mo with no upsells, tiers or fake discounts
- Accepts cash and cryptocurrency for genuinely anonymous payment
- Open source and repeatedly independently audited
- Sweden-based with a long, clean track record
👎 What could be better
- No streaming focus — it will often not unblock services
- Smaller server network than the big commercial providers
- No long-term discounts, so it is not the cheapest over time
What is Mullvad?
Mullvad is a Swedish VPN built on a single principle: collect as little about you as possible. There is no email signup, no personal data and no tiered pricing — you generate an account number, pay €5, and use it.
Key features
The no-account model is genuinely unusual: no email, no name, and payment accepted in cash by post or in cryptocurrency if you want no financial trail at all. Apps are open source, the service has been audited repeatedly, and pricing is a flat €5 a month with no long-term lock-in and no discount countdowns.
Who is Mullvad for?
Mullvad is for people whose priority is privacy rather than streaming. If you want to watch geo-restricted services, CyberGhost or NordVPN are far better suited. For a middle ground with a free tier, see Proton VPN.

Mullvad FAQ
Is Mullvad worth it?
If privacy is your actual goal, yes — no other mainstream VPN asks for so little information. If you want streaming access, choose something else.
Does Mullvad require an email?
No. You are issued a random account number and that is the entire signup process.
Why is Mullvad not cheaper on long plans?
It deliberately refuses discount tiers and countdown pricing. One flat €5 a month, permanently.
Does Mullvad work with Netflix?
Usually not. It does not prioritise unblocking streaming services, so pick a streaming-focused VPN for that.
