Our Methodology — the BP Score
Every platform on Best Platforms gets a BP Score out of 5. It isn’t a gut feeling or a number a vendor paid for — it’s a transparent, weighted model applied the same way to every tool, so scores are comparable across a category.
The five axes
We rate each platform on five axes, each from 0 to 5:
- Value (25%) — price-to-performance. How much you get for what you pay, including free tiers and entry pricing.
- Ease of use (20%) — how quickly a normal person becomes productive without training.
- Features (25%) — the depth and breadth of what the platform can actually do.
- Support (15%) — quality of help, documentation and reliability when you’re stuck.
- Scalability (15%) — how far it takes you before you’d need to switch tools.
How the score is calculated
The BP Score is the weighted average of the five axes: Value×0.25 + Ease×0.20 + Features×0.25 + Support×0.15 + Scalability×0.15. We show the full breakdown on every review so you can see why a platform scores the way it does — and re-weight it in your head for your own priorities.
Cost-efficiency, not just price
Our Best value sort ranks platforms by the Value axis, which rewards genuine cost-efficiency — a capable free plan or a low entry price that punches above its weight — rather than simply the cheapest sticker price.
